Use case
Turn a Video Winner into a Playable
Translate a useful video hypothesis into an interaction without assuming its performance will transfer.
The buyer trigger
A video has a memorable opening, promise, or game moment and has performed strongly under the buyer's own reporting. The goal is to let the viewer participate in that idea, while treating the playable as a new creative rather than an automatic conversion.
Separate evidence from the new hypothesis
The video result can justify attention to a hook. It cannot show that a particular interaction, tutorial, pacing choice, or end card will perform. First document what the evidence actually covers: asset version, audience, placement, geography, dates, spend or exposure context, metric definition, and attribution window where available.
Map the video into an interaction
Video element | Playable question | Possible production decision |
|---|---|---|
Opening promise | What should be understood before input? | Use the first frame to establish the objective |
Demonstrated action | Which action is satisfying to perform? | Turn one visible action into the core input |
Proof or payoff | What confirms progress? | Compress feedback into a short outcome |
CTA | When has the player earned the next step? | Place the CTA after the agreed outcome or prompt |
Worked hypothetical
A video shows a crowded puzzle board clearing after one clever move. The playable does not need to reproduce the whole level. A first master might present the crowded state, offer three moves, and make one move visibly unlock the board. Variants can change the opening crop, instruction, or difficulty. A real-time strategy version would be a new concept, even if it uses the same art.
What changes scope
Missing source assets, a hook that depends on cinematic editing, new 3D, multiple mechanics, extensive original animation, additional languages, or many delivery environments all affect the written estimate.
Boundary
More Playables can preserve the stated hypothesis and document exactly what changed. The buyer's campaign and attribution systems determine whether the new format improved or weakened results.
